On Saturday December 13, 2008 the Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association (NLAA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in St. John's, Newfoundland.

At this meeting the Trapline Marathon became an NLAA sanctioned event and is added to the 2009 road racing calender. This marks a significant milestone for the Trapline Marathon and ensures a high standard event for years to come.

Also at the the AGM, Jamie Snook of the Trappers Running Club was acclaimed as the Nothern Director of the NLAA.
