Bridge to Bridge Run
Posted 13 July 2008, 10:02 am ADT
On a beautiful hot Sunday morning five trappers ventured out from the North West River bridge and ran to the Goose River Bridge. This is the first 26.5 kilometers of the Trapline Marathon.
The route is beautiful. Running pass Gosling Lake the water was very still without hardly a ripple. As for wildlife we witnessed a black bear, some ptarmigan / partridges and a groundhog.
Music was provided the entire way by the birds in the forest. It was great.
Along the way I passed some local Innu who were amused to see runners this crazy and we also say one Innu tent along the way.
On another note the firt 8 km were a low grade steady incline before you finally come to an apex and a beautiful view of the Lake Melville region. You continue to climb some more until about 13 km when the going gets flatter and faster!
For those planning to run the Trapline Marathon your in for a unique and challenging run! Be sure to register before August 30 for early bird prizes from Air Labrador and Minipi Outfitters!
