In this section we have tried to answer the common questions received through web site inquiries. To your left, under the questions tab we have provided more detailed information on Race Support, Logistics, the route, ChampionChip, Boston, Prizes and Medals, the NLAA and some training considerations.
Why is the run on Saturday?
A trapper would never hunt on a Sunday, but would entertain himself by reading his Bible or some other quiet activity. We recommend that you recover on Sunday!
Are their drinks on the course?
Unlike the historic trappers you will not be expected to carry snowshoes or supplies for the winter. There will be water stops every 5 kilometers for all events. These stops have water, Gatorade and energy gels at the 21.1km mark.
What is the route like?
This is rural Canada in the great wide open. You will not be confused by stop lights, traffic or manholes. Prepare for a quiet solitude run on the same road from start to finish. This is a point to point course on an asphalt surface.
What is at the finish line?
At the finish line there will be people. It will not be a rock concert or millions of people but the local community will be there and fellow runners but most importantly your trappers tent will be waiting with traditional food and warm tea to speed your recovery! The heritage oriented finish line was a big hit in 2008!
Are their bathrooms along the route?
Similar to the historic trapper there will be no bathroom facilities on the way to your trappers tilt. If you feel the need to experience nature, the woods are recommended between 4 km and 34 km. There will be washrooms at the start and finish lines and port a potties at 21.1 km and at 31.5 km.
What about flies in Labrador?
A mosquito can only fly between 1 to 1.5 miles per hour and at your pace you will have no problem. Not to mention in October, in Labrador, there will be no flies! It would be wiser to worry about Moose who can run up to 35 miles per hour.
Is the event chip timed?
There will be wood chips on the fire at your trappers tilt and there will be chips on your snowshoes too; sorry your running shoes. Atlantic Chip are providing this service.

Is their going to be some entertainment?
Great excitement pulsed through the homes and community when the trappers returned. In North West River , a three-day celebration was held, as people arrived from Sebaskachu, Mulligan, Pearl River, Goose Bay and Mud Lake. There will be entertainment at the finish line and banquet on Saturday. In 2008, The Flummies "East Coast Music Award Winners" performed!
Will there be photography?
There will be many pictures taken and at the end you will have the opportunity to get your picture taken with some of the trappers .
