Happy Valley - Goose Bay Running Routes
The intent of this page is to provide new runners and visiting runners with good locations from which to start their runs in Happy Valley - Goose Bay, Labrador.

Happy Valley Bike Path
The municipal bike path system is arguably one of the most used running locations in Happy Valley - Goose Bay. With this route map we are suggesting you park at the town hall get on the bike path there.
As you head toward Tim Horton's there are numerous turnaround options depending on your mood. If you venture past the 3km turn around point you will encounter the only hill. It's not steep, long. If you turnaround at the "top" of the bike path as its often referred to as and head back you'll do 6.8km.
At the "top" you can take a right and continue on several more kilometers on the bike path system. It remains a great run you'll just have to navigate several road crossings and parking lots along the way but nothing extraordinary.

Minipi Outfitters
This route map starts at Minipi Outfitters and is the meeting location for the Trappers' Running Club on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Generally the group will do an out and back from this location.
Here we have provided a map of the whole circle route around 5 Wing Goose Bay. If you did the complete loop its approximately 18 km. It's very flat the entire way.
If your doing an out and back there are numerous turn around options depending on the distance your in the mood for. The first part of the route also has some nice long and straight stretches that are often used for interval training.
Overall a popular running location because it is also very quiet, out of sight and scenic once again!

Spring Gulch Route Map with 5 Wing Gym start.

Spring Gulch
The Spring Gulch run is a common lunch time route. Many local runners will set out from the 5 Wing Gym and do an out and back to Spring Gulch.
It is approximately 8 kilometers in total buts its a peaceful route and right at the very end of the road there is a short but very steep decline, so it acts as a bit of hill training as well. The rest of the route however is perfectly flat and scenic.

Dome Mountain
Dome Mountain is a favorite hill run of the Trappers' Running Club. Generally, runners will start at the base of the mountain, its a steep 150 meter climb to the top and 3.5 kilometers up. Then it's a fast 3.5 kilometers down! It's great for hill training, the journey up is tough but when you get there, you get one of the best possible views of the Lake Melville region.
This route is entirely gravel and crushed stone, a trail run of sorts.
For those looking for a challenging long distance run. There is the option of leaving from the 5 Wing Goose Bay Gym and running to the top of Dome Mountain and back.
Taking this route would be 24 kilometers. Approximately 8 kilometers of this run will be on asphalt and the remainder would be gravel and crushed stone. There will be limited traffic.
