Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association
The Trapline Marathon is an NLAA sanctioned event and is included in the NLAA calendar of events.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association (NLAA) is the sole governing body in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador for the sport of Athletics. The NLAA is responsible for the following athletics disciplines: track and field, road running, cross country running and race walking.

The NLAA is a branch of the Athletics Canada (AC). The AC is the national governing body for Athletics in Canada. The AC is the member for Canada in the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the world governing body for Athletics, which with 211 member countries, is the largest international organization in the world.

The NLAA Championship program consists of Track and Field championships for midget, juvenile, junior, senior and master athletes. Off track championships include; six road running events, and an age-class cross-country running event.
