Finally, the Trappers' Running Club was delighted to read, "The True North Strong, Free and Fast: The Great Canadian Marathon Guide" By Erin Sheard.

The Trapline Marathon got tagged as the best trip back in time! Here is what iRUN Magazine had to say, "In the days of old Sunday was a day of rest, so running on a Saturday is a must for racers tackling this historic trapline route. The Destination Labrador Trapline Marathon (October 9) in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NF dares you to run full tilt. With the website specifying the average speed of both the mosquito and the moose, full tilt is the best gear. At the finish line head to the trapper's tent for warm tea and a traditional aboriginal feast. Yes, they serve flummies."

Best organized marathon that I have attended and will certainly be back but this time will do the full marathon as opposed to the half. I have to rave about it. If there is anyone looking for a Fall marathon next year consider the Trapline Marathon in Goose Bay. The scenery was just beautiful with the colors of bright yellow and orange. The course is fairly flat and the people are just wonderful. The food at the finish line was awsome. It's traditional Labrador food and I cannot say enough about the food. All I can say is WOW. Leave it to the Labradorians to do this. This marathon is only in it's second year and it's starting to grow. You will come away from this event with friends for life. Contrary to what people say, it's not that cold. I had beautiful weather the week that I was there. If all goes well I will be going back and doing the full marathon.

Best little secret for a marathon. New York, Boston, Chicago, Paris organizers... Come and see what you can do!

Canada's best kept running secret: this event is world class, hospitable, historical, beautiful and an event that every runner should experience!

Bill Collins, Newfoundland, Half Marathon Winner
This is a world class event with a unique experience that is only going to get bigger. The scenery, the food, the community and the culture is like no other. You provide a unique experience with a downhome atmosphere. The people are friendly, the communtiy spirit is unsurpassed. The presentation of food and people at the finish line is the highlight for me. There is no where that you could go to get that at any event. Getting all the runners together at the pasta supper was great to set the stage and presentations were great. The performers were fabulous.

I am amazed at the organization of this event. As a first time participant I had many questions. The volunteers were very knowledgable and helpful. I look forward to next year!

This is a true gem of a racing event. One will not find anywhere else more genuine hospitality, more enthusiastic organizers, or a more satisfying running experience. Kudos to all - never change the generous spirit that sets Trapline apart... and above.

Unforgettable experience that has convinced me to hopefully complete the Full Marathon next year!

The Trapline marathon is an awesome event with beautiful scenery and beautiful people and a great Boston Qualifier. Having the trapper explain his and others who went before him experiences was a great motivator. This was not just another Marathon start; it was a history lesson and exposure to a unique culture. The Post Race reception was amazing; I didn't feel like leaving on of the tents as one of the elders explained how they used to live off the land …very inspirational. This is a unique feature, which sets the Trapline apart from any other Marathon.

As a member of the Trappers' Running Club in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, I was very proud to run my first half-marathon at home. In addition to the glory of racing in my own town, it was an honour to share the experience of running in such a remarkably planned and well-executed event with new and experienced runners from home and away. I eagerly await next year's marathon and the excitement it will bring!

Let me add my congratulations on a great event. Just this morning on our 6 am run I was telling stories of the marathon and how good it was. I'm trying to convince some of my Gander running buddies to come up next year. I learned a few lessons, connected with old friends, made some new ones, and basically had a blast. Where else can you shake hands with the mayor when you cross the finish line?
